No ID, No Drink: The Dumbest Excuses Heard at the Bar

bar, ID, bar humor

A bar isn't a restaurant. A bar is an establishment that serves alcohol to adult customers. Maybe there's food. Maybe there isn't. Again: A bar is an establishment for ADULTS. Adults of the legal drinking age. And to patronize such an establishment, you need your ID. Whether you're 21 or 101, you need your ID. Because this is a bar. And there are rules. And this adults-only establishment would very much like to keep its adults-only, state-issued liquor license.ย

16 No-ID Excuses Bartenders Instantly Shut Down

If you show up to a bar without your ID, you might as well not even try to walk in. And none of these excuses are going to change the bartender's or security guard's mind:

๐Ÿ†” "You don't remember me?"

๐Ÿ†” "I showed it last time I was here."

๐Ÿ†” "I have a picture of it on my phone."

๐Ÿ†” "Don't I look over 21?"

๐Ÿ†” "You don't see my gray hair?"

๐Ÿ†” "It's ok, I'm not drinking."

๐Ÿ†” "They're with me, I'm their parent."

๐Ÿ†” "I left it at home."

๐Ÿ†” "The other bartenders here know me."

๐Ÿ†” "I lost it last night.

๐Ÿ†” "I'm waiting on my new one in the mail."

๐Ÿ†” "It got stolen."

๐Ÿ†” "But it's my birthday."

๐Ÿ†” "I never carry my ID with me because I don't want to lose it."

๐Ÿ†” "I'm here from out of town."

๐Ÿ†” "I'm a bartender too."

Bartenders arenโ€™t trying to ruin your night. Theyโ€™re trying to keep their job.

Every single one of these excuses has been heard a hundred times before, and not one of them has ever changed the outcome. No ID means no drink, no matter how convincing you think you sound.

So next time, leave the excuses at home, not your ID.
