There is an especially shitty brand of bar customer who treats the bar they're in and the people who work there like the bar was made just for them. They think they can act however they want. These customers are typically rude or dismissive toward staff, completely oblivious to how their behavior might affect other patrons, and feel absolved of any responsibility to be a half-decent human being. They behave in ways they never would at home or as guests in someone else's house.

Examples of such customer dispositions are endless. This one is fresh from the long holiday weekend that just passed.

Closing Time Brings Out the Worst Customers

One of the busiest nights of the year was winding down, and last call was approaching. A day with hundreds of customers had dwindled to a couple of late-night stragglers. Almost everything was clean. The bar was restocked. All that was left to do was close the final tabs and turn on the lights. Naturally, a group of 20+ loudly poured in through the front door.

While I checked IDs, the other bartender declared last call. "Shots and beers only."

Seemingly unfazed by the lights going up or the last call declaration, the group took their sweet ass time ordering and closing their individual tabs. Seconds after they all gathered around a few tables on the other side of the bar, an explosion of shattering glass interrupted the buzz of annoying, drunk voices.

Not a single one of them moved a muscle or even glanced at us apologetically.

When I got over there with the broom and dustpan, they acted like I wasn't there. I had to ask every person sitting down individually to move their stool out of the way so I could clean up their mess. I deliberately swept over people's feet since they didn't care to budge. They barely flinched.

After finally cleaning up the mess, I returned to the bar just in time to hear the customer who dropped his beer trying to order another one.

"Nope. We're done for the night," smirked my coworker.
