With Valentine's Day weekend descending upon the bar industry, tales of the most "romantic" customers come to mind. Sometimes customers blatantly hit on the bartender in front of their significant other, while others try to be sneaky. Once in a while it's a joint effort.
Here are a couple that come to mind.

The "Better Than My Husband" Old Fashioned
I was working a busy weekend night at a bar that served fancy cocktails. A middle-aged couple sat near my well and were getting pretty tuned up. At one point, while I was a bit in the weeds, the wife asked for an old-fashioned. After whipping it up pretty fast for her, she flirtatiously commented, "Wow my husband can never make them that fast or that good at home." He appeared unamused.

The Room Key Rebound: A Birthday Blunder
One night I was working with a female bartender. She was working one side of the bar where a couple of business guys were hanging out. When they closed out, one of the guys left her his hotel key and invited her over when she got off. (Obviously, she refused.)
The next night, the group of guys came back. It was apparently the hotel key guy's birthday. After a couple of rounds, his wife showed up to surprise him. The bartender who he left the key with was working again. He ordered from me the rest of the night.

Sin City Specials: When the Tip Includes an "Invite"
As a bartender at a prominent venue on the Las Vegas strip, it was customary to encounter "alternative" lifestyles. Usually, the more money people had, the less shy they were about what they wanted. Not only were couples leaving hotel keys for their bartender or bottle service waitress to come back with them, but there was often a substantial tip included to encourage the individual to partake. One of the more frequent requests as a male bartender was a husband inviting me back for his wife while he just hung out.
